2006年6月获西北大学古生物与地层学理学博士学位，2009-2010年瑞典乌普萨拉大学访问学者（博士后），现任西北大学地质学系教授。

主要负责《微体古生物学》《高级古生物学》等课程的教学工作。

主持国家自然科学基金项目、第十二届霍英东教育基金会青年教师基础研究课题基金和教育部全国优秀博士学位作者专项基金等多项研究课题、参与国家重大基础科学研究（973）项目、教育部创新团队项目等研究项目多项，主要从事华南早寒武世腕足动物的起源、辐射和环境适应性演化研究，曾先后在英国皇家学报和美、英、法、波兰、瑞典、日本等国际古生物学报和动物学报以第一作者发表学术论文十余篇。
