1968年8月至1978年10月 四川省攀枝花市第十九冶金建设公司第一中学教师、副校长

1984年12月起，任同济大学应用数学系讲师、副教授，1990年晋升为教授。

1993年1月至6月访问联邦德国波恩的Max-Planck数学研究所

1996年3月至11月访问意大利的里亚斯特的Abdus Salam理论物理国际中心

1997年12月访问日本大阪的大阪市立大学

1998年4月至5月访问澳大利亚悉尼的新南威尔士大学

1999年5月至6月和2001年11月至2002年1月先后两次访问联邦德国比勒菲尔特的比勒菲尔尔特大学

2002年1月到2007年12月受聘为Abdus Salam理论物理国际中心的高级协作员。

与王建磐教授合作的项目《代数群模表示理论中的若干问题》获得1987年度国家教委科技进步二等奖；

与陈承东教授合作的项目《代数群的模表示理论中的一些问题》获得1996年度国家教委科技进步二等奖。

自1989年以来负责主持的国家自然科学基金面上项目有: 《代数群表示理论的若干问题》、《代数群的模表示中的一些问题》、《代数群的模表示与子群结构》、《代数群的子群结构与表示理论》和《代数群、量子群与李代数的结构与表示》等五项，以及教育部博士点专项基金《代数群与量子群的模表示理论》等。

1991年被国务院学位委员会和国家教育委员会授予《做出突出贡献的中国博士学位获得者》称号；

1998年被上海市教育委员会授予《优秀教育工作者》称号。

关于李型有限群表示的研究论文被收入Springer-Verlag的Lecture Notes In Mathematics.
