主要研究领域
蚜虫分类及系统发育、区系与动物地理学、分子系统学与进化、蚜虫与植物关系及害虫研究。科研项目
先后主持国家自然科学基金、科技基础条件平台重点项目课题、科技部基础工作专项课题、中国科学院创新重要方向性项目、中国科学院创新工程领域前沿项目、国际合作等项目20余项，主要参与项目10项。主要业绩
1997年至今已发表论文131篇，其中SCI收录论文37篇；科学专著4部；科普专著1部。系统研究中国蚜总科昆虫，鉴定描述400余种，重新记述国外40多种的模式标本；建立4属18种的新异名；对32属蚜虫进行系统厘定，澄清了对有些类群的错误记载。利用支序系统学的理论方法，研究扁蚜科等3科蚜虫的系统发育关系，对亚科的界定和系统地位提出独到见解。利用支序生物地理学方法，研究了扁蚜科昆虫的地理分布格局和特有分布区之间的祖裔关系。利用GIS技术，对中国斑蚜科和斑蚜科侧棘斑蚜属的地理分布格局进行了探讨。利用分子生物学的方法，探讨了刺蚜亚科的系统演化关系，为建立合理客观的分类系统提供分子水平的依据；研究了扁蚜亚科的分子系统发育关系，探讨了扁蚜亚科蜡片、虫瘿等重要形态特征的演化；基于分子数据，研究了五节根蚜族和瘿绵蚜族的系统发育关系，分别探讨了虫瘿在两个族内的起源和演化。基于物种信息库，利用GIS技术和PAE分析方法，探讨了青藏－喜马拉雅地区蚜虫的多样性与地理分布格局，提出了该地区5个蚜虫的特有分布区，并分析了格局的主要成因；利用相似系数，研究和对比分析了中国大陆与台湾岛屿的蚜虫区系的相似性与差异，讨论了台湾与中国大陆蚜虫区系的历史渊源；对横断山区蚜虫的物种多样性与地理分布格局进行了系统研究，从三个不同角度分析了横断山区蚜虫区系的历史渊源。目前在系统分类、物种多样性、地理分布格局研究的同时，重点开展蚜虫DNA分类、蚜虫与寄主植物的协同进化、分子系统学与分子进化方面的研究。代表性科研论文
