2005年，Brian Wilson 获得第47届 格莱美奖最佳摇滚乐器演奏奖。
回到六○年代来看一看，有许多年轻艺术家在六○年代中期纷纷进入录音间，进行充满生命力与创意的实验，当然，有些失败了，而我们现在还会听到的大概都是经过时代焠炼留下的作品。
其中有一个年轻人，非常崇拜 Phil Spector 声音重复叠录的技术，他就是 The Beach Boys 的团长 Brian Wilson。
大家听到 The Beach Boys 一定想到一堆大男孩穿着短裤唱冲浪歌曲－－刚开始的确是这样。冲浪、 加州、阳光、泡马子都是他们歌曲的内容，但这只是很短的时间。
因为他们的才华实在是太惊人，尤其是Brian Wilson，他是六○年代少数可以与John Lennon/ Paul McCartney这对写歌搭档分庭抗礼的创作者。他只有一个耳朵能听的到。而且像Lennon/McCartney有两个人，Brian Wilson也没有George Martin这样可以帮Beatles出主意、还会编写优美弦乐的制作人，他只能靠自己。但他的才华将Beach Boys的音乐水平在某段时间内，推到超越Beatles的程度，这是非常了不起的一件事。
后来因为竞争压力太大、嗑药过度，他消沈了很长的时间。
